Kimbok K.     >>would you agree with me that.......

a  mear  $100 us dollars / pax entrance fee for an EXPAT is very reasonable, this well  help the 2010 GGR Organizer generate funds close to a half million in local currency enough to cover the venue, food and drinks ,  This ofcourse assuming that there will be a minimum of 100 or more of us Expat around the globe who  have the guts to attend "The once in a life time"  gathering of fellow Milbukians ..

My Dear Classmate Evelyn,
I am glad that you're amenable to our initial ideas and interchanges. Yes, I specifically designated you as my solicitation Partner on our 2010 GGR Matrix. I had no doubt that you would be as generous just as you were in High School. I may have to explore other avenues regarding the Logo and the corresponding address we're going to use on the letterhead . I will separately explain later. Believe me, I tried so hard to disseminate it ASAP !

Guwapa, I need You to work real hard (with the Oil Magnates diha) kay my greatest vision and prayer is to get everybody to join us @ the reunion without any Financial pressure. I hope all "expats" will be as generous. On the other hand  Mga Kapatid, please don't exclusively consider this as a monetary solicitation..... kung sino lang naman ang makakapagbigay. Kinasing-kasing nga tinabangay ba. I believe that we have ample time to save for ourselves as well as contribute a little. Billy (My Boss) as well as Chief Gerry Dorotheo have gone crazy collecting recyclable items, i.e. aluminun cans for this purpose.

So far, I received positive responses from individuals I designated as Committee Chairs (even without their previous permissions). This is the Milbukian Spirit in Action! We should be proud of ourselves!

I further welcome anybody out there to share his/her talents. Please be included and be Proactive, after all we're all The Resilient Milbukian Survivors.

We don't intentionally exclude anybody, but  you have to speak up, Please??? Salamat Kaayo!!!

will try to get some amount to cover the expenses for the 2010 ggr.

iam waiting for the letter with our logo on it (to make it more formal.)

Mga Kapatid,
I appreciate this healthy interchange of great ideas. Please remember, all suggestions are considered; and NEVER frowned upon. This is precisely why I came up with the 2010 GGR Matrix to draw & specify various elements to consider (with the corresponding Responsible Committee Heads as well as deadlines) to ascertain proper planning and execution. If you've read the previous blogs, I was very emphatic of Corporate Sponsorship Solicitations for purposes of helping out with the event costs; e.g. entrance fee, accommodations, food; hence alleviating out-of-pocket expense. Furthermore, please remember, the 2 or 3-day stay is not compulsory; but, at the same time OPEN to Everybody. I even volunteered to hire a Professional Convention Planner to assist us & the GenSan Association to explore various options for accomodations; catering and the like. Personally, Mr. Pobring Alindahaw (I like your AKA name by the way), the $100.00 from "expats" is very reasonable.

Ladies & Gentlemen, please continue donning your thinking cap for when the time comes, we shall all reap the fruits of our labour.

To  2010 GGR Organizer

I  proposed that the Entrance (Door) fee for all local ( within Philippines)  attendee should be just Php 100 pesos/pax only in order to ease  financial nightmare of our fellow milbukians that are less fortunate. remember this is a 2 days affair and they need atleast 3 days lodging accommodation in Gensan plus food..... For all EXPAT ( ofw and   residing abroad) attendee,  I think a mear US $100 dollars / pax  is about right,  since we have the financial means and we are the one suggested the 2 days reunion and to be held in a tourist beach resort.        so I think we should take more of the financial burden (responsibility ) than the local milbukians..... Am I right !!... after all, this is besicaly advantagoius to us who never attended the 2 big reunion...we well see more of our classmate and friends by not asking to much......   remember, most of the local milbukians ( within the Philippines)  with the exception of the few have already attended the 2 big reunions,  they seen most of thier classmate and friends in person..... It is  US expat,  who wanted this so bad and we should atleast pay for it by paying the US$100. dollars at the door... "pre-paid or walk-in".......... am I wrong on this one !!!.....

This is just a suggestion ...  ok dokie !!.... comments are very welcome on this issue.

Hi Sonny T.,

Consider yourself deputized as a GGR 2010 peacekeeper.  Thanks for volunteering.  I may not be able to promise you the food safety details but will work something out.

Your suggestions to organize a housing committee is a very good idea.  I am sure there are good-hearted Milbukians living in GenSan who can accomodate a kababayan/s for 1-2 nights.  At this early stage, blocking of rooms for nearby hotels with reasonable rates should not be a problem.  But someone has to take the initiative to head the committee on housing.

Do I hear any volunteers from the local GenSan folks?

Hi to all Gensan reunion organizers,

Reading the"Dollar" price list of Dolores Resort made me wonder if  we can afford it for 3 days. We must find a way to help our less fortunate colleague, I would  suggest that you form an accomodation/hotel committee who's main task is as contact group for the accomodation of all participants. block rooms from other hotels near the venue to assure availability of rooms ,to solicite free room accomodations from local  milbukian residence to match to other Milbukian in need of a  free place  to stay for the reunion, and also find all relatively economical places to stay for the said occasion and blog it for any body to choose. I hope we can still find some lodging or inn that is less than Php400 a day This will be a big come on for our kababayan.(Another topic is the food for the 2 to 3 days affair)

Hi Milbukians,

It is so exciting to think further on this trip to Gensan.

I looked into the Dolores Tropicana Resort rates and other informations:
located at Tambler, General Santos City
Tel. no.( 011- 63- 83)  380-7328 / 380-7338

Room Classification:

Balud Room Standard            P1,200.00  ----US$27.   ???
Katunggan Room(Superior)    P1,500.00
Taub Room (Deluxe Family)   P2,800.00
Extra Bed                                  150.00
Extra Person                              100.00

If we are to stay in this Hotel, we should now know other details, so we will have an idea.  Which room we should book and other amenities.   I'm pretty sure a good planner will inform us.  But for now we can look into their website. or google it.

Date:Nov 4, 2008 12:37 AM

Hi  Alex, Expo and Bong,

YOUR BLOGS , i can read between the lines and surely understands including what're unspoken.

About 18 months preparation. Enough time . As Evelyn suggested, a Steering Committee may be formed to handle each detail relating to the preparation nder the chairmanship of Alex.  No stone to be left unturned. This is a once in a lifetime historical event.

I trust Alex exactly knows how. He needs help though.  What about  starting with the "concept"  and the Tentative Program of Activities ? All batches to be represented.

As Bong suggested, I can help my classmate Alex as soon as am back. Sure.... I will.

Convince many concerned attendees, more like it.  But am sure Alex will be able to cover these matters successfully.

I will make inputs as soon as I know the details.

For the best,

Classmate Alice,

Yes, the Gensan NDM group is still intact and we always communicate thru phones. Your sis Nenette is very active for this purpose and the May 01, 2008 NDM Grand Reunion was successful even for a short preparation spearheaded by Berting Quinco supported by members: Nenette, Mildred & Mina.

Details will be provided in your e-mail.

Requesting Webmaster to provide the e-mail add of Ms. Alice thru my e-mail.

Best regards and God bless,

Alice My Friend,
Thanks for your e-mails; but I felt compelled to respond to your observations for everybody to share. This is my first time ever to get involved with a Milbukian event; so I don't know what transpired that made our reunion(s) appear to be "exclusive" and/or designed for a "few"! When an announcement is made, isn't there an obvious open invitation? I think each one has the responsibility to be proactive and get involved unless specifically excluded (which I hope never happened).

In our recent blogs we made sure that we leave issues and concerns open for discussions and/or analysis. On the other hand though, Action is the name of the game!

Most coincidentally, my most recent e-mail to Mr. Alex Mc (before receiving your comments) suggested to tap the GenSan NDM Assn. including of course some notable Alums such as your Sister Nenette and the Mission Brothers.  I volunteered to hire the professional planner absent my knowledge of our very own available personnel to which Mr. Alex Mc et al agreed to. I have initiated the process for Corporate Sponsorships to (definitely) alleviate our financial burdens (especially our less fortunate brothers and sisters out there whoever and wherever they are). I am still waiting for the Milbuk Association's approval for our use of the SEC-registered Logo. But I think I'll win the Illinois Lottery soon! It will solve a major concern, won't it? ha! ha! ha!

It will be a shame if we cannot collectively rise and create an environment where everybody feels welcome as participants rather than outside observers. It is therefore my personal challenge to everyone to open up and be heard. After all, we are Milbukians!!! Let us all please get involved no matter how minute our contribution is.

Alice, I dearly appreciate your openness and I hope everybody learns from this and be proactive rather than reactive. Please accept my apologies if I bored you all.

God Bless us all,

>Alice: You'll be in Tacurong by April 2010, just timely for the coming GGR-2010 on 24-25 May, hopefully you can extend help for your classmate (Alex) plan for the smooth formulation of the greatest Milbukians-Sinangkangan-Palimbang-San Roque-Tibulos-Baliango etc. event.

>About my sis Naida (your batch) she's fine & the family too still in Butuan City

been successful too about her kids (her youngest recently passed the C. Eng'g. Board)

>My sis Mae, also doing good so far and successful too about her kids.

>Our clan is attending this big event.

Date:Nov 3, 2008 07:17 PM

Good morning Alex,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

I brought that matter up to the organizers' attention, because I felt the need to.

I like this event to be successful too esp that my classmate Alex is deeply involved, he he he. So is Gerry, in many ways.

What about the program ? number of days/hours, etc. . . . The Planner. will he/she be informed of some major and minor details of history ? Will you do  that too? I mean the script... or will you tap someone else ?  I understand you are

very busy, so are the others, but many heads may be better.

What about meeting the locals and discuss the matter. Start with my sister Nenette at the City Hall of General Santos. She knew many schoolmates around the city. They can help you with the huge respoinsibility.

Goodluck Alex.

Date:Nov 3, 2008 06:59 PM

Our NDM schoolmates are just around.  The majority however thinks this re-union is but for "a few"............. sad to say, but with all honesty, I have to.

I thought my sister Nenette is working with you . She's with the city government

of Heneral Santos ( an effective event organizer and leader, she's known to be ).

This kind of activity (making broadcast to all concerned), is just but very easy

for her, I know it. She has the needed resources. I hope she's interested herself to join. She's a busy career lady, but if she will commit, the matter of organizing can be considered SOLVED.

I shall be home (Tacurong City) by April 2010 - back to our College .

I like to join as well, but I like to make few suggestions if you will allow me,

that can benefit majority (more than 90%).

How're Naida, Mae and their respective families ?

How're you doing Bong ?

Kind regards

Hi Alice,

Good morning.
You have a good point bringing this up and I believe expats are working on this the so called "Corporate Sponsorship".
We plan to hire professional party planner and we'll wait and see the package proposals. Accordingly in our first talk the package includes " Arrivals to Departures" maybe including publications.

More details coming upon receipt of the proposals.

Best regards and God bless,

Alex M.

>Alice: agree with your proposals re: batch coordinator (the problem is how to locate our missing batch if they are not aware with our website) siguro ato na lang e-request sa taga Gensan (Alex) nga ipa-broadcast sa local Radio about our coming GGR-2010 what do you think? or ipa 'flash' sa local TV commercials diba?

we therefore recommend this matters to the 'Ways-and-Means' committee  including the assistance for those who cannot afford to go but willing to attend.

My opinion only, subject for further discourse.

Dear fellow NDM Alumni,

Re : The 2010 Grand Re-union in GenSan

Following our chat with Ludy and Carol in Bangkok last week, I would like to suggest that a "batch coordinator" will be identified to inform former classmates

about he forthcoming big event.

Also, may I pose this query : do  we have options for alumni who cannot afford

but are interested to attend ?

Perhaps, I am addressing this to my classmate Alex,  being the overall coordinator.

    Reactions please.

Greetings Everyone,
Tess Trinidad, Bong Gonzales and I have been extensively e-mailing back and forth re. the permission for the use of our SEC-registered Association Logo. The said logo and the  corresponding Association's legal address, etc. shall be utilized to formulate a solicitation letter for the 2010 GGR Reunion Corporate Sponsorship . To be more optimistic, I shall be able to utilize it for other solicitations; i.e. OLPH Church, Scholarships, Official networking within the Membership, etc. etc.  All these obviously need the Association's perusal and approval without which, nothing leaves any body's desk, rest assured.

Hang tight everyone and, we'll hopefully attain positive results soon.

I like your idea about the security details.  It will be an honor to do it for the GGR 2010.  Consider yourself, Jun and George to be deputized as the official security team.  The others sons and daughters of the Weyerhauser security force to be named and deputized later.

I have s very good news for everyone, Carol Tubungbanua emailed me about their Bangkok reunion.  Present were Carol T., Alicia L. and Ludy B.  Per Carol, they had chika-chika for 8 hours.  I think this is a record setting chikahan as the longest for a small group.  diba mga igso.  Let's all give the Bangkok group three CHEERS.  Let's all wait for Ludy to post their pictures.

Dear Bong G., Classm8  Evelyn, Alex Mc, et al:
I appreciate your immediate responses. You're right Bong, we need an address on the letterhead. Also, we would probably (Word) format it so the solicitor can type in his/her name as the signatory. Bong, with your sending us the Logo with the address, it entails approval for its use, right? I'm just concerned about Legal ramifications.
Bong G,
By the way, your Basketball line up mentions very familiar names; but the one that really got my attention is Art Banzon. He was my best barkada when I came back to Milbuk from the seminary. He was my neighbor while growing up sa Milbuk. I know he married a Gonzales, is it Pina, your sister? Sorry if I'm wrong! Maaaan! I am even more excited to note this. One more question, during my basketball league days in Milbuk one of my best players and closest friends was Jose Banzon and I saw his name sa memorial, how did he die? I meant to ask this for the longest time.

Salamat kaayo,

Sir Xpo,

Thanks as well for the consuelo, hihi! my assumptions was the lowest figure as far as what I can sum-up basing on the latest Reunion we had at Gensan, Actually we paid P200/pax (that is +P100 more in 2 yrs as contingencies).

As you've said, to be more specific and approximately in the correct figure let's wait for Alex Mc unending effort to feed us the appropriate infos. let's do that. Meanwhile, dear Milbukians, your comments are all vital to this issue.

Thank you Sir! God Bless and your beautiful family.

Brod Jun G,
Your suggestions would definitely help us with our planning and we appreciate it. I further suggest that we wait for the report from Mr. Alex Mc and the Convention Planner for a more accurate cost analysis. Even then, we could not realistically predict the Peso value (vs. commodities) at that time. Jun G, it is a very good start and thanks for initiating the money matters. We definitely would need the reactions from the "Local Attendees" on this regard: are the figures realistic?, etc. etc.
Thanks and Regards,

Our friend Benny Esoy is a frequent road user of Milbuk-Gensan route, by the time GGR-2010 is a month or so, we can ask an advice from him about the safety of the proposed journey otherwise Plan B-C-D's are options...

Suggestions...... I PROPOSED FOR A P300/pax fee for every local attendee (bata tigulang). Expatriate (workers, residents & dependents) P600/pax (minimum) and will cover foods & "pantulak".

Accumulated amount to finance expenses of the venue & foods, remaining figures kung meron para sa account/projects, fund raising activities will be conducted by the organizing committee. Sponsorships...let's wait and see.. haha!

your comments... please.

Hello Fellow Milbukians,

I am excited about the proposed "sentimental journey"  to Milbuk in 2010. I'd love to be with the group. Since security is a main concern we have to face squarely, I suggest we tap those who have connections with the AFP(Armed Forces of the Philippines) so that we can make a more careful assessment of the risks(if any) involved. Coordination with the local officials(eg barangay captain) is also needed. Above all, let us not lose sight of the tremendous support we can get from the parish priest and some of our friends who are still there or who have been frequenting Milbuk more recently like the Bajadas, Cielos(Winnie and Biling)When we shall have done these..we will all be ready to say "Dear Milbuk..Here we come!" .....By then, Mc Arthur's famous "I shall return"  shall become "I or We have returned"..Let us continue dreaming to make this dream a reality.

Unfortunately, the (sub) MX-Marine does not work under water, hehehe.  Unsa man ka diha, uy!  Nice to see you are back blogging again.  I saw your pictures with Helen.  You guys look marvelous.....I love the mountains, waterfalls and lake.  These are natural beauties enhanced by the beautiful smiles on your faces.

I like your positive thinking.

What a very good plan.  Your PLAN C may just work, we just have to make sure the landing strip is still in good shape and have the locals shoo away the goats and carabaos grazing on the runway.  Let's Google for small plane (or helicopter) rentals in GenSan.

This is a time when we wish our two great Weyerhauser pilots are still alive (Capt. Buddy Capacite and Capt. Nards Flores).  They were so good in what they do that we mortals normally took it for granted how these two pilots guided their planes to land and take-off in that very short Milbuk runway.  They did it without any high-tech gadgets that pilots use now.  It is amazing that they have not lost a plane in that many years of flying in a not-so-ideal conditions.  Many young boy's minds were influenced to become pilots due to their abilities.

I remember visiting Capt. Flores at Makati General Hospital after his surgery to repair his injured foot.  He was injured when the blackshirts shot-up at his plane, essentially taking the first salvo of deadly gunfire that was intended to ambush the convoy of Weyerhauser buses.  It has been unsaid before, but Capt. Flores saved our father's lives that day.  Let us not forget CELEBRATE his courage and heroism.  Thank you Snr. Nards for everything.

Keep the Milbuk DREAM alive mga igso.  Our hopes and dreams for a peaceful Milbuk will keep us together.  God Bless us All.

It's a good idea to hire Herman Tubungbanua.  But first, if we travel by air, it is a must that we  know how to sky dive with parachute.  If we go by sea, we all must know how to swim and float.  Taga Milbuk man tang tanan di ba? Practice na naman tayo sa swimming para kahit saan tayo isakay, ready tayo all the time.   Let's brown ourselves before we go to Gensan, so we will not catch people's attention, otherwise every time you shop, you will be charged like a tourist.  Magpractice na tang tanan with our local dialects, okey dokey?   esp. Gerry.

Dear Expo,

The Milbuk Legacy Foundation International has been posted at the FORUM - Nellie's corner. We can start from what Nellie Altabano Cayas and Oca Carzada have already laid down. I suggest that we take a look at it and see how it can benefit us.

So CLOSE and yet soooo FAR!

I can hear the deeeep sigh and deflated feelings of many of our igso.

Okays guys let us not be sad (after all Alex and EXPO just want us to be safe).  We can think of a "Plan B" if the peace and order situation in the area does not improve in 500 days.  Here's what we can do, we can throw a BIG party in GenSan, invite all the MILF and MNLF combatants and commanders and while they are busy partying and getting drunk, we can sneak in to Milbuk.  Is that a plan or what.  hehehe!

As the saying goes, a bad plan well executed is better than a good plan badly executed.

But seriously, we all realize there is a real and present danger in that part of the world.  All these plans and excitement is a product of wishful thinking (for now).  We all miss Milbuk.  We can only pray that the situation in the area will turn for the better in 500 days.  If God wills it, we will see our beloved Milbuk again.  If not, we still can have a GOOD time in the reunion and join Beth D. and others in the meeting about the Milbuk Legacy foundation.

Mr. Alex,
Thanks for a very detailed and helpful information. Your (GenSan) leadership has been very valuable. We 're so lucky to have you.

Hello Milbukians,
Although we'd love to see Milbuk (at least) one more time, optimism or excitement should not be our only guiding force. Let us face reality and be wise about broadcasting our intent. (if you know what I mean!). As Mr. Alex puts it, it's 500 days away, let's see what the future brings.

Betty Didulo,
It is quite interesting that you brought up the Foundation and its future once again. If we really want to pursue it, somebody should already have "the" prepared material ready for presentation at the reunion. Is this a valid presumption; or, are we (just) starting over again? Sorry, I don't know.

Hi Milbukians,

Good morning.

Sorry for not responding ASAP on queries about trips to Milbuk from Gensan coz I don't want to break the thrill and excitement in the heart of our Kababayans who in more than 40 years had not seen the real Milbuk now.

Hope in 500 days more to go before the May 2010 GGR favorable changes attained.

In Gensan, there are lot of "FISH" but less "ORDER"... ( joke lang).
Seriously speaking, this time is not really safe to travel going Milbuk, even in Sarangani coatal road- Maasim to Kiamba then to Maitum, along the way are Muslim area and MILF was claiming Sarangani to be an extension territory. Much more from Maitum to Milbuk, its a 30km rough road but it takes more than an hour to travel because of not so maintained road and MILF check points. Maybe by pumpboat its a little safer but long hours travel.

Summing up travel time by land:
Gensan to Kiamba =  1.5 hrs.
Kiamba to Maitum =  0.5 hr
Maitum to Milbuk  =   1.5 hrs.
             TOTAL TIME    =   3.5 HRS.
Travel time by sea = 7 to 8 hrs.

Transport advisory : Last rip at 4:00pm. from Kiamba to Gensan.
Meaning, donot travel in the late afternoon or nitetime.

Remember Milbuk is in Sultan Kudarat- Member of the ARMM (Autonomos Region in Muslim Mindanao).

Again let's hope for a positive change in the coming days.
Hope also that government troops will eventually capture Commanders Bravo and Umbra Kato @ Ph. 10.0M reward ea.
Commander Bravo is terrorizing Lanao area and Commander Umbra Kato in North Cotabato, Maguindanao and Sarangani Province.

Till next issue.

Best regards and God bless,

Alex M.

Those who won't join the scary and adventurous ride to Milbuk can stay and have a serious meeting about the milbuklegacy foundation, etc. Maybe by 2010 we shall have more concrete plans about the future of the Milbukian Companionship which Oca had been hinting at since the beginning. Whadyah think folks?

Mr. Alex,

Good Job! You've really got the ball rolling. Thanks from all of us!

Here's my opinion on your query regarding the (Convention Planner) Candidates' exposure to our web: Let them submit whatever they got on themselves first. I don't want them to formulate their resume` based on their exposure to the web. It will come in due time. Please remember that eventually, You will give the event  goals and directions while he/she makes them happen accordingly. We will share our excitement, wishes and thoughts thereafter. Let's not provide  them any leverage by exposing them to our interactions. Whadya think mga Kapatid?

Gals and Guys,
Our interactions are getting hotter and healthier! Please be reminded that all these freely expressed thoughts and ideas are good but shall definitely be gathered and filtered by the Committee(s) based on fairness and feasibility.

Thank you all  for your participation,

Have contacted local Professional Party Planners and requested those interested to forward their CV. In due time I will forward the same to Sir Expo.
In line with this, permission is requested that those guys be allowed to see and read this Reunion page in order to visualize/project the expected big event.

Huwag naman kayong batch conscious kasi naiinsecure kami. Last Gensan Reunion kami lang ni Maam Tina, Maam Bebot and myself ang Batch '66. Now we are 4 with Dra. Ade. Pag may games by batch, lagi kaming default kasi kulang sa number. Di bale, kami na lang na mga vintage group ang judges. Like what Gerry suggested, maybe sa first day we'll have parlor games sa morning, sports in the afternoon, program and disco in the evening, Mass the next day and trip to Milbuk. Whatdya think?

Hi Bong,

Good plan on side trip to Milbuk after the reunion.  With about 5 pumpboats, we could take along Billy and Expo and the rest of the gang who are bold enough to take on the crazy and dangerous plan to see our beloved Milbuk.

I agree with Billy about the heat and being fashionable.  A good brim hat and/or payong will be the best thing to have in that climate.  That is why ingenious Filipinos of old invented the Barong-Tagalog shirt.  This is both fashionable and allows good air conditioning at the same time.  Great idea.

We can also go to Tibulos to visit your farm and pick up some guavas and coconuts on the way back.

Good question, I am not sure about the travel time from GenSan to Milbuk.  I will defer to Alex and locals to tell us that.  Alex can you address this question of Billy? Thanks.

Alex M. & Sonny T.,

We need to get our NDM batch '70 to come strong in this reunion too.

Hehehe!

Hello Mga Igso,

Re: Costumes and motifs pag dating sa beach wala lahat yan.  Shorts and T-Shirt lang ayos na.  Gents can wear very tight Speedos mag-papayat lang muna.

Sa ladies naman dapat 2-piece bathing suit (or bikini) like what Claire suggested to Evelyn.

So evening wear, I am going with the Manila group with Hawaiian shirt and shorts.

Hehehe!  Doon labu-labu tayo.

Yong suggestion mong lunch at the beach, ayos yan.  Isama mo na pati dinner para lubos and kasiyahan.  Basta kasama kami sa tsibugan.

Paki reserve mo ako nang dalawang air-con rooms.  Matutulog ako nang husto sa bakasyon.  Thank you for being there to represent the Milbukian interest.   Do you know how many cottages (air and non-air) are available in this resort?

Can you also canvas the rental of a good size pumpboat.  Baka mag kayayaan, punta tayo sa Milbuk for 1 day.  Balikan lang so we can see the place in person, take souvenir pictures and our old houses (and of course the NDM & church) and perhaps say hello to our friends there.

Thie excitement is soooo contagious.

Guys and Gals,

Let's not compete, but share whatever we have, be it money or ideas, time, talent or effort.
I hope the Global reunion won't turn out to be a competitive reunion but a truly interactive reunion. It would be good to form groups para we can get as many Milbukians to attend. Our group must not be exclusive but open to others who have no groups. Some of us could not afford, so let's see what we can do for them. As a group we can help those who lack money. What do you think?

The dates seems to be very appropriate. I also give my "Aye" on that. Likewise to Ma'am Beth's idea of having Manila attendee in one group. Grouping helps maintain orderly and well planning. I hope I can disseminate this idea to the 76'ers to have one group as well, I'll do it at next years gathering.

Thank you and Have a nice & Blessed Day!

Dear Expo,

The Manila Reunion Committee had initial plans of joining the Gensan Global Reunion. Nelson Noble suggested the we buy a ticket as a group so that it will be cheaper. Beth Bacomo suggested that we choose a motif for our group, and we have chosen the hawaiian motif - hawaiian costume and dance from the Manila Group. What do you think?

Hello Gals and Guys!

Evelyn Garcia of KSA, called me this morning and was wondering about the "real" GenSan Global Reunion schedule. She was not clear on the final date(s) of our event. She needed to confirm it so she may schedule her 45-day vacation in 2010. This concern is seriously affecting a lot of our Brethren all over the world especially those who have to plan a year (or more) ahead. We've received a few favorable reactions to the proposed 2-day, 2-night event; so, let us carve this in stone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2010 GenSan Global Reunion shall be held on....
May 29 & 30, 2010
(Saturday & Sunday)

I think we've given ourselves enough time to consider the said dates! I hope nobody has any objections. We need everybody's help in planning to make this our most unforgettable concerted event of our lives. Thanks and see you then!!!

Mabuhay tayong lahat!

Here's to Everyone on the GenSan Global Reunion!

FYI, here's what we've done so far.

Mr. Alex Macabacyao has humbly accepted the Governing Committee Leadership for the GenSan Global Reunion. Please join me in applauding his commitment. Despite his hectic schedule, he has already accomplished some leg work initiating the planning stage: a). Scheduled a meeting with the Resort's Management to delineate and discuss some of our primary & basic concerns; e.g. accommodations, food etc. b). Search for a professional convention/party planner as I suggested. c). Likewise, start networking for possible Corporate Sponsorships which would certainly alleviate some of our financial load. and, d). Network with his Committee Members especially those who were involved during the first GenSan reunion.

I have already procured the color-coded plastic bracelets to identify registered Reunion attendees. We still would like to find out the resort's requirement(s) so we may possibly block the 29th & the 30th of May 2010 to ourselves. I have a long list of concerns and inquiries ; however, may I suggest that you send your concerns as well so we may submit them to our Organizing Committee and the professional Planner for considerations.

Alex and I have been e-mailing back and forth on these possible issues, copying some of our fellow Milbukians who have expressed their interest in the planning of our grand event.

Let us make our Reunion the Grandest of all Reunions! This is only possible through a Milbukian concerted effort and cooperation. On the other hand, please consider this,...may I please recommend (in fact, strongly) that as soon as we determine the total calculated Reunion financial requirement, we'll impose "PREPAID REGISTRATIONS". This is quite blunt; but, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Your opinion is appreciated. Finally, may I also remind you all of your entries to our Poetry Contest. Gracias!!!

God Bless,

Hello Milbukians,

Right now, I know it is definite that Kimbok is donating three (3) lechons, di ba Bay? and Billy is hiring a cook(s) for our picnic sa beach.

It is but apropo that we start gathering all our "dreams & wishes"
NOW for the Grand Reunion and create a check list to serve as our guide. A Committee should then be formed to oversee the planning and implementation, strategies and everything in between.

Although May 30, 2010 is kinda written in stone, .....kung hindi pa naman inconvenient for those who planned ahead, I think it should be
at least a 2-day & 2-night affair. Kung pwede lang naman. And those who are able, .....stay for a third day. After all, it's been decades! Ergo,  I humbly suggest that registration starts in the early morning of Saturday, the 29th of May and, "officially" ends  on  Sunday evening, the 30th. Suggestion ko lang po naman.

For strategic purposes: 1). Who's our Main Coordinator in GenSan? 2). I kinda like
Alex Macabacyao's proposed Venue 3). Accomodations 4).Transportation 5). Food 6). Finance 7). Mass Communications and Recording and more importantly, 9). Corporate Sponsorship(s), etc., etc., etc.

I realize how incredibly hectic this affair can be for any Milbukian; therefore, I would personally hire a local (GenSan)  Full Time Professional Convention/Party Planner for this purpose. This Planner shall be the "runner" for our Governing Committee which, I believe should be headed by our Main Coordinator in GenSan.

It may seem so far away; but, this is considerably an important gathering of Global proportions. Milbukians yata tayo! May I further suggest that we start donning our thinking caps and send our suggestions and comments no matter how minute. I believe our main goal is to have FUN, FUN, FUN!

How confident can we be with the best of detailed preparations?

Daghang salamat!

welcome back bro.

It would be the perfect venue for the GGR-2010. a resort with all the amenities, the main factor is the Ballroom that can accommodate "herd" of Milbukians, hahaha! labi na naa sila private beach.... pag medyo "lashing" na mi ni Kimbok mag washing dayon mi sa dagat para mahuwasan.. sabay pulotan sa inihaw na panga then tagay na sab og tuba.

Durol i think is made of giniling na pikit (sticky rice) with coconut milk & sugar.
I can just imagine how it taste but i don't know the recipe. Maybe si Sir Oca can help.
It's some sort of dessert.
btw, Charito is my sister, she lives in Oklahoma. (Fide is in OK. too)
You just reminded me about her selling puto early in the morning.

Hi Maam Billy and Clair,

Greetings from Polomolok, South Cotabato (20 kms. from Gensan).

Nice reading about the suggested menus and recipes for the upcoming Grand Reunion 2010, also the venue. To be exact, we have 606 more days to go, murag dugay pa peru samtang nagabasa ta sa blogs murag duol na lang.

For the venue, we are looking at the exclussive one nga medyo safe and secured with hotel accomodations with-in. It's a beach resort, 15kms from Gensan proper.
Hope we can reserve the place before the culmination dates. I will try to post pictures of the location and facilities of the resort.

Till next blog.

Mr. Alex Macabacyao mentioned earlier about the Saranggani Resort by the beach as the venue. Maybe it's worth looking into. He made it sound so interesting.

Sir Expo , Ate Billy, and Bong G.,

Maayo gyud nang idea nga sa beach pud ta  magkitaay.  Kanang all native food preparation is the best.

To Our Dear Classmate Evelyn Garcia,

It was grrrrrrrrrrreat talking to you today! It brought forth a breath of fresh air; notwithstanding the years we've gone our separate ways. Thanks for the updates and yes, we'll pursue every possible way to see you at the 2010 reunion. Billy and I are so glad that you're equally excited to join the rest of the Milbukians; although there's always that feeling of ambivalence while reminiscing of our good old days at NDM. Our invitation to visit us here in Chicago stands. Whenever, we'll keep our doors open for you and your family. Please say Hi to Sister Mediatrix for us. Thanks.

Dear Super Bong Gonzalez,

You've given us better ideas on the menu. Butong & ginataan (with langka and young coco)? yeeeeehaw!!!! Maglatag ta ug mga dahon sa saging and fill 'em up with super fresh inihaw nga tuna, etc. then clams, shrimps, crabs, esp. talangka gikan sa fish pond he! he! he! etc., etc. Kuan pa diay....nilagang kamanting, sweet kamote & gardaba. How I wish somebody still knows how to make the "tira-tira" and the glazed "palapad" for dessert. Magpaniwang gyud ko (lose 100 lbs.) before that time haron I could DEVOUR every bit of it.

Date:Sep 20, 2008 07:32 PM

>Billy: can I request for a 'ginataan' to match with your 'bananaque-rebosado?' ug 'butong' young coconut as 'drinks',,,,ayayayaaaaaaaaaaaay,,makalaway gyud!

Dear Everyone ,
Now that the MGR is over ,l ets learn from their success and  from their  "little inconveniences" that they experienced   along the way.
Ahhh  ... could we start making suggestions for the 2010 reunion  ? So that way ahead  we will  know what to expect .... ?
OK  i will start...........Before i will go home  i will request  someone i know from Gensan to  to look for someone  who could  cook  the banana cue  smothered with melting  brown sugar (REBOSAO) as i still vividly remember .I will pay him to cook for us  the whole day  at the beach. We will eat it while it's still  ... HOT!.. ..HOT!.... HOT!... ! and drink frozen    coca cola .

Dear Ma'am Evelyn Garcia,

As you scroll below the blogs, there was a proposal from my brod Bong to set the date of GGR-2010 on May 30th, the reason behind is a government issue about him & family in Singapore and secondly we have a family reunion 1 week before, with that all our siblings are planning to attend the said reunion thereafter. Todate no one had opposed to this proposal and we assumed that is ok for everybody, i think so.

Dear Beth Didulo,

You have given a good point there. For those that cannot attend the Gensan reunion may have one in Manila before or after that date so the people coming from other parts of the world can see more of the Milbukians. Also be able to support the different projects. Regarding the church renovation I am for that if your purpose is to raise money for that I am willing to send it thru my brother Sonny. I ask the kind hearted Milbukian to support this project.

Dear Bong and Jun,

If there are more people who can come on May 30, 2010, then so be it. May 1, 2008 was chosen by the Gensan Organizers because it's Labor Day, a holiday. But I guess we are open to accomodate your requests.

Get in touch with Berting Quingco, Nenette Laraya and Alex Macabacyao. They are the ones in charge of the Global Grand Reunion in Gensan in 2010.

I guess we in Manila will make an alternate schedule for those who cannot make it in May 30, 2010. After this reunion in Sept. 6, we shall schedule one before or after the Global Grand Gensan Reunion. This will give those who can't go to Gensan to attend the Manila reunion instead. What do you think?

Even our meetings here in Manila are like mini reunions. This Saturday, we'll meet at Sonny Tismal's house in Tagaytay. The Milbuk spirit lives on.

Take good care of yourselves wherever you are and whatever you do.

God bless you.

Now that we are "old", we finally got "reconnected". You  have a sharp memory Billy(I guess that's how it is when we grow older haha)Now I am doubly happy because aside from Gaying Casabuena and Evelyn Garcia, I now have my batchmates blogging.

Never heard about Eddie Narzabal.I heard he is in Dipolog. Esterlina is in Pagadian teaching in a public school. I met her and two of her daughters at the Ateneo on more than 3 occassions.Eddie Floreta passed away and I paid him a visit in Basilan. Niobe Tan is in Davao, a medical practitioner. We had a loooong chat via celfn. I didn't realize she could be that very conversant.Never heard about Esperidion Flores(11fingers remember?)Jioharia Lim is in GenSan an English professor according to Niobe.

If you and Expo plan to come to Basilan via Zamboanga , please let me know. If you proceed to Bacolod, it is very accessible from my wife's place in Dumaguete.

All for now Billy for this first contact after 40 loooong years. When I finally say yes to the invitation of my son and nieces in USA I will make a side trip to your place. Expo I was told, met the president of our Ateneo University who was there for the All Ateneo Alumni Gathering in USA. Till my next posting Billy.

Helo Lex.

Musta na and family?

Inyo diay na nga Company Logo? 'twas my brod Bong who posted it here. Gladly it has something to do to advertise your breadbasket, haha!

You know when we went there last June my first wish is to see Mt. Apo (for the first time) I don't know if it was the one I saw when we were in Digos area, I didn't dare to ask anybody kay medyo maulaw ko.. ingnon ta nga "tagaw", with it's peaking height I'm pretty sure siya na nga, When we went to Tropicana, again I saw a mountain, this time I asked Lando Quinco if it was Mt. Apo the one I saw at Digos Area, then he replied No! it is Mt. Matutum, huh! "mao diay na siya"??? Lesson learned: Don't forget Philippine History especially when it is in your own backyard.

Regarding your pre-meeting re: Global Reunion 2010, hope it will be a success, and once again thanks for your effort to lead.

Take care always, and my warmest hello to your lovely family, greetings also to everybody out there. God Bless

With respect to Mt. Matutum. The volcano is dormant since 17th century.  There is no resort or place appropriate for gathering yet near Mt. Matutum but there's a nice place in Gensan, near the Tropicana beach resort, the name is Sarangani Hi-lands over looking the beach resorts. Maybe can cater 1000 guests. We will post pictures of the scenery after our initial meeting for the 2010 grand reunion.

Hi Jun,

Good morning Jun, its morning here in Polomolok, around 8:00 am.
Nice to see the scenery of the Mt. Matutum presented in the right corner of the  Reunion page and thank you also for posting the logo of the Matutum Meat Packing Corp. This is the promise of the owner of MMPC to make Polomolok the PIG Capital of the Philippines since Gensan is the TUNA capital. Anyway for the final date of the 2010 Grand reunion, the organizer will set a meeting anytime next month and we will consider the suggestion of the Gonzales clan to have it May 30, 2010.
Nennette e-mailed me for this 2010 initial meeting, we know most of us are very busy this time much more that we are expecting 25 personnel meat traders from Singapore next week to visit Gensan and Polomolok.
We'll post the updates.

Best regards and God bless.

To: The organizer of the 2010 Reunion,

I am looking forward to join this reunion since it will be the family reunion of the family on my husbands side. Hope that the dates are close. The last time I was in Gensan was 1985.
